Shelby Corcoran
Shelby Corcoran is the former coach of Vocal Adrenaline. She is Rachel's biological mother and the adoptive mother of Quinn and Puck's daughter, Beth. She is very talented, a trait passed on to her daughter. She is just as competitive, though she doesn't resort to the underhanded tactics that her daughter will sometimes use against her opponents.
Shelby is portrayed by Tony Award-winning actress Idina Menzel, who is actually mentioned in the show.
According to William Keck, who did an interview with Idina, Shelby will be back before the season 3 finale.
Jesse St. James
Jesse St. James is a character in Glee. He is the former male lead of Vocal Adrenaline, and thanks to him, they won four consecutive national championships. He is introduced in the season one episode Hell-O when he begins dating Rachel Berry. He becomes a member of New Directions in the next episode, The Power of Madonna, to get closer to her as part of Shelby Corcoran's plan to get Rachel to find her mother. He transfers back to Carmel High in Funk and rejoins Vocal Adrenaline.
He returns in the season two episode Prom Queen seeking Rachel's forgiveness after telling her he flunked out of UCLA and wants to begin his own business in training show choirs for competitions.
He will return in the third season as confirmed by Lea Michele's tweet. David Karofsky
David "Dave" Karofsky was a student at William McKinley High School who, along with his friend Azimio Adams, used to constantly bully the kids in Glee Club, especially Kurt Hummel. In the season two episode Never Been Kissed, it is revealed that he is gay when he kisses Kurt. As of Born This Way, he has begun his slow journey towards self-acceptance and redeemed himself by forming the Bullywhips with Santana, a club to monitor the hall and stop bullying in its tracks. As means to hide both of their sexualities and to win prom king and queen, Dave and Santana agreed to be each other's beards, they ended their alliance after prom. He has since moved schools. In the episode Heart, he tells Kurt that he thinks he's in love with him. After being outed at his new school as being gay, Dave attempts to kill himself by hanging but the attempt fails.

Sam Evans
Sam Evans is a character on the Fox TV show Glee. He was first seen in the episode Audition He is a new transfer student in Season 2 at McKinley who was discovered by Finn while singing Poison's Every Rose Has Its Thorn in the shower in the boys' locker room. He joined New Directions in the episode Duets and dated Quinn Fabray, but they broke up due to Quinn cheating on him with Finn. Sam is dyslexic (said in Audition) and in New York, it has been revealed that he is secretly dating Mercedes Jones. In The Purple Piano Project, it was said by Mercedes that they dated in June before he left. Sam returned to McKinley and New Directions thanks to Finn and Rachel in Hold on to Sixteen. He is currently crushing on Mercedes and is trying to get back with her.

Lauren Zizes
Lauren Zizes is a character on Glee. She is an ex-member of New Directions, on the school wrestling team, member of the Old Maid's Club, ran a spying business, is a fan of the Twilight Saga, spends her Friday nights making out with her cat, and was obsessed with Will Schuester's looks. In Special Education, she joined New Directions, despite thinking Glee Club is stupid. She soon becomes friends with the Glee kids. She is known for being an incredibly good kisser. Last season, she had been holding Puck on a short leash after "rocking his world" during an attempt at "seven minutes in heaven" which barely made it to three. She first appears in the episode Wheels auditioning for the Cheerios.
As of Season Three she is no longer dating Puck nor is a member of the Glee Club as she breaks it off in The Purple Piano Project.

Shannon Beiste
Shannon Beiste is the current football coach at William McKinley High School who replaced Ken Tanaka. She is portrayed by Dot Jones (billed as "Dot-Marie Jones").
Burt Hummel
United States Congressman Burt Hummel is the father of Kurt Hummel, and the stepfather of Finn Hudson. His first wife died when Kurt was around eight years old and later on marries Finn's mother, Carole Hudson in Furt. Burt is presented as a typical "man's man", a mechanic and a football fan. In Grilled Cheesus he almost died after suffering from a heart attack brought on by an arrhythmia, causing him to go into a coma for a period of time.
Burt is portrayed by Mike O'Malley.
Mercedes Jones
Mercedes Jones is a central character on Glee. She is presently a senior at William McKinley High School, where she actively participates in the glee club. In the past, she has also spent time as a member of the Cheerios, which she joined alongside then-best friend Kurt Hummel. Mercedes considers herself a diva at heart, and she is contented with being labelled as such. At the beginning of the series, Mercedes develops a close friendship with Kurt, being the first person he comes out to. Mercedes is distressed when Kurt transfers to Dalton Academy in Furt, but she soon recovers and becomes closer to fellow glee club member Rachel Berry.
In New York, Mercedes begins a relationship in secret with Sam Evans, her date to that year's junior prom. As of The Purple Piano Project, Mercedes has been in a relationship with Shane Tinsley, the new linebacker for the McKinley Titans, following Sam being forced to leave Lima due his father receiving a job out of the state in Kentucky. Sam's return in Hold on to Sixteen forces Mercedes to have conflicting feelings between Sam and Shane.
In Asian F, Mercedes quits New Directions after taking a stand against Will and Rachel for their underappreciation of her musical talent in previous years, gathering the confidence to do so from her boyfriend. She soon defects to Shelby's glee club, The Troubletones, acting as their second member, with the first being Sugar. In the following episode, Mercedes is able to persuade Santana and Brittany to defect with her, which paves the way for the group to garner enough members to oppose New Directions at that year's Sectionals. This competition takes place in Hold on to Sixteen, and The Troubletones are awarded second place, being ultimately unable to beat New Directions.

Sue Sylvester
Susan "Sue" Sylvester is the coach of the Cheerios and founder of the Muckrakers Club and League of Doom as well as the Old Maid's Club. Sue was previously the coach of Aural Intensity before their loss at Regionals in 2011. She also bullies kids on a daily basis.
She wanted to destroy the Glee Club and their teacher, attempting to bring it down at any cost. She had a handicapped sister named Jean, who she often spent time with. Jean brought out her kinder side, and passed away in the episode Funeral. As a result, Sue announced she will no longer try to bring down the Glee Club - and decides instead to focus on politics.
Sue is the main antagonist of Glee, and is often seen as the villainous teacher who likes to shake them up. On many occasions she, usually inadvertently, inspires Will.
She is highly critical, constantly reprimanding other students, faculty, and Cheerios - and manages to be one of the most loved characters of the show.
Sue has a strong dislike for most of the glee kids, but seems to have taken a liking for Kurt, protecting him against Karofsky and resigning as principal out of protest when he is expelled. And when he told her to stop calling her Lady, she listened. In Comeback, when Will mentions Kurt and the Warblers she sadly whispers, "Sweet Porcelain." In Sexy, she seemed to have thought they were allies, until Kurt quickly informed her otherwise.
Sue is currently pregnant and suffering from morning sickness, both shown in On My Way.

Noah Puckerman
Noah Puckerman, who is more commonly known as Puck, is a central character in Glee. He is presently a senior at William McKinley High School where he actively participates in both the glee club and football team.
A self proclaimed "badass", Puck is well-known around the school for constantly tossing younger students into dumpsters and also for initially being a primary culprit for throwing slushies in peoples' faces. At first, Puck is very much opposed to the glee club, deeming it "gay" and a group designed for "losers". Shortly after Quinn joins the club, Puck discovers that Quinn has become pregnant with his baby, and he soon joins the glee club to use it as a way of being closer to her.
In Season One, Puck slept with Quinn and got her pregnant, leading to the two ending up in a relationship together. She eventually gave birth to his biological daughter in Journey, named Beth but was adopted by Shelby Corcoran, coach of Vocal Adrenaline. In Season Two, Puck dates Lauren Zizes for her personality and confidence: In Season Three, it was revealed that Puck and Lauren broke up. In I Am Unicorn, he sees his 1-year-old biological daughter Beth for the first time since she was adopted.

Tina Cohen Chang
Tina Cohen-Chang is a central character on Glee. She is presently a junior at William McKinley High School, where she actively participates in the glee club. She pretended to have a stutter when she was younger to push people away from her due to her extreme shyness. Now, she appears to get along with most of the other members in the Glee Club. In season two, her character seems to become more confident and outgoing.
Tina dated fellow glee club member Artie Abrams, but she starting seeing Mike Chang before breaking up with Artie (whom she later dumped in the lunch line at school), as they fell in love at Asian Camp. The relationship between Tina and Mike has been the longest-lasting relationship of any to appear on the show to date, lasting over an entire season.

Michael "Mike" Chang Jr. is a central character on the TV show Glee. He is an active member of the glee club and the football team. Mike, along with Matt Rutherford and Noah Puckerman, joined Glee Club in the episode Preggers after winning their first football game with the club's help.
Also known as "Other Asian", he is usually referred to by his full name of Mike Chang and is considered to be the New Directions' best male dancer. As of Audition, Mike is officially dating Tina Cohen-Chang, a fellow Asian. In Season 2, he has had a more important role and extra character development. In Season 2 Mike has also felt more confident about his singing after doing a duet with Tina during the episode Duets.

Santana lopez
Santana Lopez, portrayed by Naya Rivera, is the co-captain of the Cheerios, a member of New Directions, and an ex-member of The Troubletones.
Santana joined the Glee Club along with Quinn Fabray and Brittany as Sue Sylvester wanted them to spy on the glee club, however all three girls ended up enjoying taking part in the club. She became captain of the Cheerios after Quinn Fabray was kicked off the squad due to her pregnancy, but lost the position when Quinn informed Coach Sue Sylvester of Santana's breast augmentation surgery in Audition. In The Sue Sylvester Shuffle, Santana quit the Cheerios because she did not approve of Sue shooting Brittany out of a cannon as part of the cheerleading routine, and Sue made her choose between the glee club and Cheerios. Santana chose Glee Club, and was cast off the Cheerios along with Quinn and Brittany. In season three, Santana is back on the Cheerios and co-captain with Becky, she pledges her allegiance to Sue and burns Glee's Purple Piano. She is then kicked out of Glee Club. She rejoins Glee Club and re-pledges her allegiance to Glee club (without telling Coach Sue).
Though Santana has a history of relationships with a series of male characters, she is a lesbian and is currently in a public relationship with Brittany Pierce, with whom she previously maintained a 'friends-with-benefits' arrangement.
Artie Abrams
Arthur "Artie" Abrams is a central character on Glee. He is a presently a junior at William McKinley High School, where he actively participates in the glee club and also the McKinley Titans football team. Artie is a strong and ambitious young man; even though he is in a wheelchair, he refuses to let anything get in his way. In Dream On, it is revealed that Artie dreams of being a dancer, and then-girlfriend Tina Cohen-Chang insists on helping him achieve this, even going so far as to research future medical possibilities. After speaking with guidance counselor Emma Pillsbury about these potential scientific advancements, he is distraught to realize that they are all far off being publicly available. Since then, Artie has come to aspire to be a director, discovering this passion after being recommended by Will Schuester to direct the school's production of West Side Story.
During season one he starts dating Tina, but she breaks up with him at the beginning of season 2. Artie joins the football team in hopes of winning Tina back. Later, Artie starts dating Brittany but they break up before the end of the season.

Brittany S. Pierce
Brittany Susan Pierce is a member of the Cheerios, a New Directions member and a former member of The Troubletones. She is best friends with Santana Lopez, and good friends with all of the New Directions members. She is also the new McKinley High Senior Student Body President for 2012. She seems to be bisexual/pansexual, although her sexuality has never explicitly been stated on the series. She is currently in a relationship with her best friend Santana Lopez.

Emma Pillsbury
Emma Pillsbury is a character on Glee. She is the William McKinley High School guidance counselor. She is a known mysophobe around the school and her associates, and often takes drastic measures in order to ensure cleanliness in her life. Emma also has Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and is taking medication for it. She is often found assisting co-worker and fiance Will Schuester in New Directions' daily activities and even counseling Will in his personal struggles on occasion. She is currently engaged to Will Schuester.

Will Schuester
William "Will" Schuester is a character on Glee. He is one of the main protagonists in the series. He took charge of the William McKinley High School Glee Club, which he named New Directions after Sandy Ryerson was suspended. He was married to Terri, but the couple divorced after Will found out that Terri lied to him about being pregnant. He is currently engaged to and living with Emma Pillsbury.

Rachel Berry
Rachel Berry is one of the main characters of Glee. She has been the co-captain of New Directions alongside Finn Hudson since Mattress. She is one of the three major, self-proclaimed divas of the club; the others being Mercedes Jones and Kurt Hummel.
Rachel is a very driven and ambitious young woman. She was raised by two gay fathers, Leroy Berry and Hiram Berry. She was able to meet her biological mother, Shelby Corcoran, the former coach of Vocal Adrenaline in Theatricality, thanks to the efforts of then-boyfriend Jesse St. James. Rachel is typically very competitive and often flaunts her "diva" behavior by always demanding the spotlight and being the center of attention due to her dream of going to Broadway. However, on numerous occasions, Rachel has shown that she is slowly becoming more considerate and supportive towards the other members of New Directions. She is currently in a relationship with Finn Hudson, whom she has had conflicting feelings for ever since the Pilot. However in the episode Yes/No, Finn proposes to Rachel and it is unknown whether they are engaged or not.

Quinn Fabray
Lucy Quinn Fabray is a character on Glee. She currently is part of the Cheerios and New Directions. She is presently a senior at William McKinley High School, where she actively participates in the Glee club. In the past, Quinn acted as the president of the school's celibacy club and as head of the Cheerios, however she was eventually forced to leave after her pregnancy was publicized. At the commencement of the second season, Quinn was reinstated by Sue Sylvester as head cheerleader, although she later quit in the episode The Sue Sylvester Shuffle in favor of remaining in the glee club due to the coach's mistreatment of the girls in the squad.
Throughout the majority of her time in high school, Quinn has been widely recognized due to her extreme popularity and beauty. In season one, Quinn was introduced as one of the main antagonists. She had a one-night-stand with Noah Puckerman and consequently became pregnant with his child, Beth. At this point in time, she was already in a relationship with Finn Hudson, a close friend of Puck's, which seriously complicated matters for Quinn. In Season 2, Quinn is back to the top of popularity, becoming the captain of the cheerleaders again. She starts dating Sam, a new member of New Directions and the Football Team . However, the relationship ends after Santana tells him that Quinn is cheating on him with Finn, which is true, and he breaks up with her. Afterwards Finn and Quinn start a formal relationship without secrets, but he breaks up with her because he still loves Rachel. In Season 3, Quinn comes back from summer with an all-new-bad-girl look. She quits New Directions to be with her new friends The Skanks, but she comes back to her old look and rejoins New Directions in order to get Beth back. She tries to make Shelby, the one that adopted her baby, appear as an unfit mother. However, Puck tells her that he is in love with Shelby, which gives Quinn a plan to tell Mr. Figgins, but Rachel convinces her to not do it. She realizes that if she wants Beth safe, she has to stay with Shelby. After that, Quinn becomes a very close friend of Rachel, and enrolls in Yale University and gets in. In On My Way, Quinn gets in a major car crash while texting Rachel.

Blaine Anderson
Blaine Anderson is a character in Glee. He is currently a junior at William McKinley High School. He is the former lead member of the Dalton Academy Warblers (where he transferred to due to heavy bullying), who later transferred to William McKinley High School in season three. Blaine is openly gay, and currently in a relationship with Kurt Hummel.

Kurt Hummel
Kurt Hummel is a character on Glee. He was the first openly gay student at William McKinley High School, a member of New Directions and a former member of the Dalton Academy Warblers, the McKinley Titans, and the Cheerios. He currently lives with his father Burt, stepmother Carole, and stepbrother Finn Hudson. Before Season Two, he was living alone with his father, as Kurt's biological mother died when he was eight.
In Season 2, Kurt transfers to Dalton Academy due to being bullied for being openly gay by Dave Karofsky, who is struggling coming to terms with his own sexuality. However, he later returns to McKinley in the episode Born This Way. Kurt is currently in a relationship with Blaine Anderson.
Kurt is portrayed by two-time Emmy nominated and Golden Globe winner, Chris Colfer.
